5 content ideas to pass the summer

Summertime, cucumber time? Yes, somewhere that's true. But maybe also time for more creativity! An excellent time to take a different approach to your content. Looking for some ideas? We give you 5.

1. Summer photo contest

Challenge your followers on social media! Ask them to post a photo of themselves wearing one of your products during summer events. For example, at sporting events like the Tour de France, Wimbledon, FIFA Women's World Cup,.... Or at music festivals like Werchter, Couleur Locale, Tomorrowland,... Link a unique hashtag to it. And of course also a nice prize: for the most creative photo, the furthest destination, the most likes,... This way you increase the involvement of your followers and at the same time you have valuable content to share further on your account.

Here's an example: do you have a travel company? Ask customers to post photos of themselves at their travel destination with the backpack bearing your company logo. The most original photo wins a free weekend getaway.

2. Support a good cause

Supporting a summer charity shows your social commitment. Raise money to benefit Pride Month, Neurodiversity Pride Day, World Oceans Day or World Refugee Day. You can of course just donate money, but you can also organize an event in favor of that cause. This way you involve your customers even more and put your company in their spotlight.

An example: do you own a clothing store? Organize a summer fashion show and donate part of the proceeds to The Ocean Cleanup, an organization that collects plastic from oceans and rivers.

3. The sun in your mailbox

Even though you probably get more out-of-offices than during the work year, it still pays to maintain your email campaigns even during the summer. Some people just have more time to read your mailing, too. You can highlight your summer promotions, give a sneak preview of the new collection or promote summer events. Give an exclusive discount for your readers!

4. Summer Guides

Your followers are themselves looking for inspiration for all sorts of things. Help them get ahead with handy and practical guides. Which are consistent with your products and services, of course.

Some examples: if you have a gift store, create a guide with gift ideas for Father's or Mother's Day. As a garden center, share ideas for garden decorations and a list of plants that do well in the bright summer sun in your summer garden guide. As a restaurant owner, share your recipes for refreshing snacks in a handy menu booklet.

5. Summer Topics

Summer has quite a few events that you can capitalize on with your communication. We have already mentioned the major sporting events such as the Tour de France and the music festivals such as Werchter or Dour. There is also the Flemish holiday on July 11 and the national holiday on July 21. August 15 is Mother's Day in Antwerp and the surrounding area.

And there are the lesser-known but sometimes original "days of. Think International Friendship Day and National Watermelon Day (USA).

Self or outsource?

You can definitely get started with these ideas. Would you rather outsource your content ideas, or are you going on vacation yourself and don't have the time? Starting in August, we again have 3 spots available for new clients in our social media program. Contact us for more info.
